When you write in, it helps to include your Mac and macOS version (for example MacBook Pro M3, macOS 14.5), which widget is involved, and what you expected versus what happened.

Requirements

Install

  1. Download and move to Applications. Download Dock+, open the disk image and drag Dock+.app into your Applications folder.
  2. Open it. It's signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens without warnings. Dock+ lives in the menu bar: it has no Dock icon and doesn't appear when you press Command + Tab.
  3. Open Settings. Click the Dock+ icon in the menu bar (four small squares) and choose Settings & Permissions…. Grant the permissions your widgets need.
  4. Start at login (optional): Settings ▸ General ▸ Startup.

Settings

General
Permissions panel; Dock position (bottom or top); Keep windows from covering Dock+ (on by default: windows move and resize normally but stop at the edge of Dock+; full-screen windows and dialogs are left alone; minimizing Dock+ frees the space); Accent color (eight presets or any custom color); Start at login.
Widgets
Add widgets with plus, remove with minus. Reorder by dragging the ≡ handle or with the up and down arrows. The top of the list is the left end of the dock.
Content
Favorite apps, bookmarks, folders and quick actions. Drag the ≡ handle to reorder.

Need the screen back? Click any empty spot on the bar to shrink Dock+ to a small handle; click the handle to restore it. If your system Dock auto-hides, Dock+ lifts out of its way when it appears.

How to

Permissions, and why each is needed

Dock+ only asks for what your widgets use. You can review or remove any permission later in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security. Skipping one only switches off the feature that needs it.

Calendar
So the Calendar widget can show your next event and open it in Calendar. Events are read on your Mac and never leave it.
Reminders
So the Reminders widget can show, add, complete and reschedule your reminders, locally.
Location
So the Clock & Weather widget can show conditions where you are. Only your approximate location is used, and only for the weather.
Automation
So Dock+ can talk to other apps on your Mac: Music or Spotify (playback), Mail (open, archive, delete), System Events (Mail's snooze), Google Chrome (list and switch tabs) and Dia (list and switch tabs). macOS asks once per app, the first time it's needed.
Accessibility
So the Emoji widget can paste into the app you're typing in, and so Dock+ can keep windows from covering it by gently resizing windows that overlap the bar.
1Password CLI (Touch ID)
The 1Password widget uses 1Password's own command-line tool, op, which you approve with Touch ID. Copied items clear from your clipboard after 90 seconds and are never logged or sent anywhere.

Setting up 1Password

  1. Install the 1Password CLI: brew install 1password-cli, or follow 1Password's guide.
  2. In the 1Password app, open Settings ▸ Developer and turn on Integrate with 1Password CLI.
  3. Open the 1Password widget (click Retry if needed) and approve the prompt with Touch ID.

Troubleshooting

A permission says "Not set" after I allowed it

Click Grant in Dock+'s own Settings: macOS only lists an app under a permission after the app asks. If no prompt appears, use No prompt? Open System Settings ▸ Privacy and switch Dock+ on there.

I see two Dock+ entries in System Settings

One is left over from an older version. Remove both with the minus button, then grant again from Dock+'s Settings.

Clicking a Chrome tab or an email does nothing the first time

macOS is waiting for you to allow Automation. Answer the prompt, or turn Dock+ on under System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Automation.

Windows still slide under Dock+

Check that Keep windows from covering Dock+ is on and that Accessibility is granted.

Privacy

Dock+ keeps your data on your Mac: no accounts, no analytics, no telemetry. The only data that leaves your device is the weather lookup. Read the full Privacy Policy.
